Costa Mujeres is what the Cancún Hotel Zone was thirty years ago, before the strip filled in. The coast north of the city is newer, quieter, and largely given over to resorts with a great deal of beach in front of them and very little else around.
The drive up from Cancún International Airport is 29 kilometers and about half an hour, and it avoids Boulevard Kukulcán entirely. Cancan Airport to Costa Mujeres
Costa Mujeres has no airport of its own, and most guests arrive through CUN, which is where the trip either starts well or does not.
Your chauffeur is watching the flight, waiting when you clear customs, and knows which of the four terminals you came out of. The resorts up here are large and the check-in queues at four in the afternoon are long, so arriving on your own schedule rather than a shuttle’s is worth more than the half hour it saves you.
The vehicle is the one you booked: a luxury sedan, SUV, a Mercedes V250 or a Black Luxury Van when the family and the luggage travel together.
Costa Mujeres Resorts and Playa Mujeres
The properties here are large, new, and built for guests who intend to stay put. Beachfront spas, private cabanas, gourmet dining, and the Playa Mujeres Golf Club, designed by Greg Norman, sit along a stretch of coast that stays quiet even in February.
Playa Mujeres is the gated community within Costa Mujeres, and the two names are used almost interchangeably by guests and resorts alike. We drive to both, along with the private villas and residences between them.
Wedding Transportation in Costa Mujeres
The resorts here host a great many weddings, and the transport is the part nobody plans for until late. Guests arriving across three days on different flights, a welcome dinner one night and the ceremony the next, and forty people who need to be in the same place at the same time.

How do I get from Cancun Airport to Costa Mujeres?
By private transfer. Costa Mujeres is 29 kilometers north of Cancún International Airport, about 25 to 30 minutes, and the route north avoids the Hotel Zone traffic entirely. Shuttles wait to fill and then work through the resorts before they reach yours.
Is Costa Mujeres the same as the Cancun Hotel Zone?
No. The Hotel Zone is the strip along Boulevard Kukulcán, south of the airport and considerably busier. Costa Mujeres is north of the city, newer, and quieter, with the beach in front of the resorts staying empty in a way the Hotel Zone never manages.
How far is Costa Mujeres from Tulum Airport?
About 150 kilometers south, well over two hours. Nearly every guest heading to Costa Mujeres flies into Cancún instead, which is 29 kilometers away.
What is the best transportation to Costa Mujeres resorts?
A private transfer. Your chauffeur meets you at the terminal and drives you directly to your resort, at a price agreed before you travel. The resorts here are large and spread out, and arriving on your own schedule rather than a shuttle’s makes the difference at check-in.
Are taxis or rideshare services available in Costa Mujeres?
Taxis are unmetered and the fare is negotiated, and rideshare coverage this far north of the city is thin. A private car service is a fixed price and a chauffeur who is already waiting.
Can I book a chauffeur for the evening in Costa Mujeres?
Yes. Hourly and full-day chauffeur hire is one of our most requested services here, because Cancún is half an hour south for dinner and the drive back at midnight is not one you want to be arranging at the time.
